Choose a Location and Understand Data Scope

How the location selector works, why some pages require a single location, and what All locations means.

When Topo asks for a location

Some staff pages cannot continue until a single location is selected. POS is the clearest example: stock, pricing, taxes, and terminal reader behavior depend on the location.

Choose a location

  1. Open the location control in the top-right of the staff page.

  2. Choose a specific location, such as the main gym or annex.

  3. Confirm that the page shows the data scope banner for the selected location.

All locations vs. one location

  • All locations is useful for organization-wide browsing when the page supports it.

  • A single location is required for workflows where Topo must apply local rules, such as check-ins, POS, inventory availability, events, shifts, and some reports.

  • The selected location is stored in your staff session. If your access changes and that location is no longer available, Topo clears it and asks you to choose again.

Common errors and fixes

  • If POS says to pick a location, switch from All locations to a single gym location.

  • If no locations are listed, your staff profile does not have access to any location. Ask an owner to update it.

  • If you only have access to one location, Topo normally selects it automatically.
