Open POS and Select the Right Location

How to open Point of Sale, choose the correct location, and understand the POS screen layout.

Before you start

POS requires permission to create sales and a selected location. This protects location-specific pricing, stock, tax rates, terminal readers, and check-in behavior.

Open POS

  1. In the staff sidebar, select POS.

  2. If prompted, choose the location where the sale is happening.

  3. Confirm the data scope banner shows the intended location.

Understand the POS layout

  • Member panel: attach a member or choose guest checkout.

  • Products & Plans: search, scan, or tap sellable products, plans, and bundles.

  • Saved sales: reopen carts that you saved within the last 24 hours for this staff user and location.

  • Cart: review lines, quantities, discounts, tax, total, and available payment options.

Automatic cart stashing

If you open or refresh the POS landing page while your active cart has items, Topo saves that cart for later and starts a clean cart. This prevents staff from accidentally losing a sale during a refresh or context switch.

Common pitfalls

  • If POS says it is scoped to a single location, choose a specific location instead of All locations.

  • If the POS link is missing, your staff role may not have sales permission.

  • If the cart shows Add items to checkout, it is not ready because no cart lines have been added yet.
