A quick orientation to the staff workspace, location-scoped data, role-based navigation, and where daily work happens in Topo.
What the staff app is for
The Topo staff app is the workspace your gym team uses to run day-to-day operations. It includes the dashboard, POS, member lookup, inbox, tasks, shifts, help docs, marketing, commerce, memberships, events, reporting, team management, admin settings, and account settings.
The three things to check first
Who you are signed in as. Your staff role controls which pages and actions are visible.
Which location is selected. Many workflows, including POS and check-ins, use the selected location for stock, pricing, taxes, and eligibility.
Whether you are on the right workflow. Dashboard is best for member lookup and alerts. POS is best for sales. The left sidebar is the main navigation for everything else.
How Topo scopes your work
Topo is multi-tenant and multi-location. Your organization is the tenant boundary. A location is a physical gym. Organization-wide records, such as members, memberships, passes, products, tax rates, and waivers, belong to the gym business. Location-specific workflows, such as POS stock, check-ins, events, route areas, and shifts, use the selected location.
When a page needs a specific location, Topo will ask you to choose one. If your staff account can access only one location, Topo selects it automatically. If you do not have access to any location, ask an owner or admin to update your staff profile.
Common points of confusion
Missing sidebar links usually mean your staff role does not have that permission. It does not always mean the feature is unavailable.
If POS or check-in asks you to pick a location, choose a single location instead of All locations.
The demo banner and Stripe test-mode banner appear only in demo or test environments. Real gyms will not see demo data or test-card messaging in production.
